Album Review

Geffen picks up the best of Britain's "New Wave of the New Wave," a three-girl-one-boy group led by ex-Suede (pre-fame) member Justine Frischmann, choosing the band's '93 debut single -- the limited-edition, out-of-print one that was reissued recently in the U.S. on Sub Pop -- to soften up the market. Killer melodic rush-rock, thy name is Buzzcocks, but it's also Elastica. Hot song. This includes three more B-sides, including the two '93 John Peel sessions from '94's second single, Line Up. All three are good, especially the one-minute "Annie." The other two are more like That Petrol Emotion, which, though good, are less exciting.
