Lobster Lover

...I have to send a big shout-out to today.  Last night was their annual "LobsterFest," and it was also Alexander Keith's 217th birthday, which makes for a near-lethal combination of food & beer!  Thanks again to the gang behind the bar for the numerous "Dangles" & "Woodsies" too, I'm glad I left my car there.  After a "LobsterFest" about six or seven years ago, I finished my night by inadvertently falling down an entire flight of those huge, old, nasty, wooden stairs in the river valley; having my wife with me last night probably saved me from more unnecessary "mystery injuries."  I bartend every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at the Downtown Brew.  There's a Canadian Brewhouse coming soon to Spruce Grove too!

Turkey Time

THANKSGIVING LONG WEEKEND ... Welcome to the Thanksgiving Long Weekend!  Weather should be quite decent and I have tons of stuff to give away!  Today, tomorrow and Monday, keep it locked on The Bear for your chance to win tickets to our 20th Halloween Howler, movie passes for ARGO:, and movie passes for SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS:  Enjoy the turkey and holiday Monday!

THIS DUDE IS INSANE ... This Tuesday, an Austrian named Felix Baumgartner, will attempt to freefall from the edge of space with the Red Bull Stratos Project.  He'll drop from a height of 35 kilomteres above the earth, and if he's successful, he'll break four world records in the process!  Freefall into all the details & technology behind this amazing stunt here:

Blaine & Fiancee

ALSO INSANE, BUT DORKY ... Everyone knows of David Blaine's "mystical, death-defying, magical, stunts & illusions," so this is nothing out of the ordinary for him.  His latest "trick" is having one-million volts of electricity pumped through him.  Get electrified here:

Halloween Hotties

20th HALLOWEEN HOWLER ... Keep listening to The Bear to win tickets to the 20th Annual Halloween Howler, every day until October 25th.  Listen for the "Cue to call" and be caller 10 at 780-451-8666 when you hear it!  There's a $20,000 door prize, insane costume prizes including cash and a Powersports vehicle from Cycleworks.  This year's bands are OUR LADY PEACE, I MOTHER EARTH, and MONSTER TRUCK.  Plus, DJ Harmon B will be spinning tunes in between sets; don't miss out on the craziest, most debaucherous party of the year!  If you're new to the city, words don't do it justice; you have to go and experience the mayhem to believe all the tales!

New York Jets Cheerleaders

GAME ON ... If you're an NFL fan, make sure you join the Paul Brown Show's RYAN MAIER every Monday night for The Bear's NFL "Monday Nighter" at Schanks Sports Grill:  RyMai will have tons of prizes, food, drinks, and all the action on the giant screens!  Get all your NFL info here:

Edmonton ESKIMOS Football … The Eskimos still have a very slim chance to make the playoffs after finally winning a game last night!  They beat the Hamilton Ti-Cats 35-20 at Commonwealth Stadium.  Their next game is next saturday afternoon at Commonwealth, with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in town.  Game time is 2:00pm, Mountain time.  Go Esks, Riders blow; visit

Puck Bunny

Edmonton OIL KINGS Hockey ... The Oil Kings are in a bit of a goal scoring slump, after scoring only two goals in the last three games, including a 4-1 loss Thursday to the Prince Albert Raiders.  Their next game is this evening at Rexall Place against the Saskatoon Blades.  Game time is 7pm, Mountain time, listen to all the games live on our brother station - TEAM 1260 - and get all the latest on the Oil Kings here:

Edmonton RUSH Lacrosse … Our pro lacrosse team announced their new President yeterday at Rexall Place.  The new season for the 2012 Western Champs starts in January, and you can get cRUSHed here:

Baseball Babe

BASEBALL PLAYOFF TIME ... I'm not the biggest baseball fan in the land, but I do pay attention a bit more when the post-season rolls around.  The only team I've ever cheered for is the Yankees (and the Jays in '92 & '93), and here's where you can get the latest playoff updates:
