A walk in the Park, Volume 267

DAILY WARDEN TRACK: I was listening to some music over a few beers with some friends last weekend at the exclusive Forest Heights Social Club, and we started talking about albums that are 20 years old this year.  Here’s a partial list: “Vitalogy” by PEARL JAM, “Dookie” by GREEN DAY, “Definitely Maybe” by OASIS, “Far Beyond Driven” by PANTERA, “Crooked Rain Crooked Rain” by PAVEMENT, “The Downward Spiral” by NINE INCH NAILS, “Ill Communication” by BEASTIE BOYS, “Weezer (The Blue Album)” by WEEZER, “Smash” by The OFFSPRING, “Ready To Die” by The NOTORIOUS B.I.G., “MTV Unplugged In New York” by NIRVANA, “Live Through This” by HOLE, and “Superunknown” by SOUNDGARDEN (today’s feature band).  On the just-released 20th anniversary edition of “Superunknown,” fans get a bonus CD / download with tons of extras, like rehearsals, demo recordings, remixes & other previously unreleased material from one of the biggest bands of the Grunge era.  So click that friendly little “play” button for one of those treats, “The DAY I TRIED TO LIVE [ALTERNATIVE REMIX].”
Buy SOUNDGARDEN’s music via Amazon here.
Topic Of The Day: ARE YOU FOR OR AGAINST CAPITAL PUNISHMENT?  Check out the story about the state of Missouri possibly manufacturing its own execution drugs below, then post your opinion on the official Park Warden facebook page, or text to 666 666.
CUSTOM DEATH MISSOURI STYLE: Capitol punishment is something most people are either for or against, there’s no “happy medium.”  The U.S. state of Missouri is hoping to put its own twist on the “execution” of the death penalty with custom made drug cocktails, inject the bizarre details here.
FINNISH FLOATING BEER FESTIVAL: It started in 1997 with about ten people, it now has over 5000 annual revelers, and it’s called “Kaljakellunta” in Finland.  What is it?  A “floating” beer festival!  Paddle your way through the foolery here, and the crisp, cool, delicious Craft Beer Festival is in Edmonton this weekend, slurp down the frosty info here.
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH TOUR RIG VIDEO: If you’re a fan of Five Finger Death Punch and you want to see how some of their magic happens on stage every night, then you should turn your knob up to “eleven,” here.  Check ‘em out at the Tail Creek Mud & Music Festival later this month!
PHOTOGS HATE NEW AMAZON PATENT: This is something I find very funny.  Apparently Amazon has patented a specific set-up they use for their product shots, which involve a white background.  So many photographers were pissed that the white background was patented that they actually started a petition to have the patent appealed with the US Patent & Trademark Office.  Anyway, Amazon said, chill guys – we’re not patenting the white BG, it’s just the specific gear and set-up.  Focus on the mix-up here.
FUN, FESTIVALS, ETC.: Edmonton Craft Beer Festival (June 6-7), Drumheller DinoFest (June 13 – 15), Improvaganza (June 18 – 28), The Works Art & Design Festival (June 19 – July 1), Beaumont Blues & Roots Festival (June 20 – 22), Edmonton International Jazz Fest (June 20 – 29), Tail Creek Mud & Music Festival (June 27 – 29).
NHL STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS: Game two of the Stanley Cup Final is tonight at 5:05pm Mountain time on CBC, with the New York Rangers hoping to tie the series at one game each before it heads to the Big Apple for games three & four.  Keep up to date with the official NHL site here.
EDMONTON ESKIMOS: 2014 training camp continues as they prepare for next Friday’s pre-season home-opener.  The B.C. Lions are in Edmonton, the coin-toss is at 7:05pm Mountain time.
FC EDMONTON: Lost 1-0 to the Ottawa Fury FC last weekend.  Are back on the pitch, hosting the Carolina Railhawks tomorrow.  Kickoff from Clarke Stadium is 2:05pm Mountain time.
EDMONTON PROSPECTS: Are on the road this weekend against the Swift Current Indians, first pitch this evening from Mitchell Field is at 7:05pm Mountain time.  Watch the game here, and check out the Prospects brand new cheerleading team here!
