Rock 101 question and answer: Tue Sept 4 [Green Day]

There’s something fishy about this (see the video below / stunt?)…

Green Day was forced to cancel a concert in Bologna, Italy on Sunday night (September 2nd) after frontman Billie Joe Armstrong was hospitalized, according to Loudwire. The nature of Armstrong's illness was not disclosed, but drummer Tre Cool and bassist Mike Dirnt posted a video message to fans online, with Dirnt saying, "We apologize profusely, this is really unfortunate, but Billie got rushed to the hospital last night due to illness. The doctors don't think it's a good idea for him to play today."

Cool added, "We're beyond devastated, we're as sad as you guys are. Billie is extremely upset about it and we'll see you very soon."

At press time it was not clear whether Armstrong was still in the hospital and there was no word on his condition. The band was just closing out a run of European dates when Armstrong got sick. The trio's next show is the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on September 21st.

The first of the punk act's three new studio albums, Uno!, comes out on September 25th, with Dos! and Tre! to follow in November and January.

Rock 101 question: What is the Green Day song “Wake Me Up When September Ends” about?

Rock 101 answer: Billie Joe Armstrong wrote this song about his father, who passed away from Cancer on September 1, 1982.
