Rock 101 question and answer: Tue Oct 16 [Stone Sour]
I’m interviewing Corey Taylor (Slipknot/Stone Sour) tomorrow morning. I’ll make sure I post the interview on my blog as soon as possible. He’s a huge comic book fan, I’ll make sure I touch on that during our chat…
Several music stars showed up this past weekend (October 13th and 14th) at New York Comic-Con, the East Coast version of the massive fan culture event held at the Jacob Javits Center in midtown Manhattan. Among the artists who appeared were Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett, there to promote his new book Too Much Horror Business -- The Kirk Hammett Collection, and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor, who appeared at the Dark Horse Comics booth to promote the upcoming comic book tie-in with the new Stone Sour album House Of Gold And Bones.
Taylor said that going to events like both the New York and San Diego editions of Comic-Con showed a whole different side to his career: ["When they announced that I was going to do a signing, all these people on Twitter were like, 'I didn't even know he was into comics!' I'm like, 'Do you not read the interviews that I do? I mean, I'm such a geek, it's not even -- it's painful, you know. So it's, that's cool, you know. That just means I'm getting to another side of the fan base, you know. I'm getting to see people that maybe I wouldn't have been able to run into before, you know."]
The comic book version of House Of Gold And Bones will be published as a four-book series starting next April, around the time that the second of the two albums is released.
The first disc, House Of Gold And Bones, Part 1, will arrive next Tuesday (October 23rd).
