This is an odd story (and I will never forgive Plant)…
Kiss' Gene Simmons revealed that several years ago, he acted as the go-between for a prospective Led Zeppelin reunion. Simmons, who's promoting Kiss' new album, Monster, recalled how he nearly played a role in getting Zeppelin to team up again following their 2007 reunion at London's O2 Arena, which was captured on the new Zeppelin CD/DVD collection, titled, Celebration Day.
Simmons told The Sun, that a major promoter gave him access to about $320 million and enlisted him to help secure another Zeppelin reunion: "In 2009, 2010, I was given a few hundred million dollars in an account by a large concert promoter and given the task of reaching out to Jimmy (Page) and Robert (Plant) and trying to convince them to get back together. Of course, it didn't work. Robert just doesn't want to do it."
Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones admitted that it took very little rehearsal or preparation for Led Zeppelin to fall back into their old ways during rehearsals for their 2007 reunion gig: ["I mean, it just immediately, it clicks again. You don't have to work at it; you just fall into how it's always been. Y'know, I mean, we played. . . I don't know how many shows we played in all in the old days. And suddenly time was compressed and suddenly you're right back there again and you're working on the same things you were always working on and focusing on the same issues. And it just slid straight back into it again. Once the fingers got going again, the brains followed -- as did our asses."]
