Rock 101 question and answer: Fri Nov 2 [Soundgarden / Led Zeppelin]
Jimmy Page confirmed that he's remastering all nine Led Zeppelin albums, with each set being readied as deluxe, expanded editions featuring, "extra music and bonus material," according to NME. Page, who produced all of Led Zeppelin's live and studio albums, has served as the band's chief archivist and personally oversaw the remastering of the band's catalogue back in the nearly '90s.
In Page's new interview with Mojo magazine, he explained, "There are a number of Led Zeppelin projects that will come out next year because there are different versions of tracks that we have that can be added to the album so there will be box sets of material that will come out, starting next year. There will be one box set per album with extra music that will surface."
Soundgarden will play three "intimate" North American shows to celebrate the release of the band's sixth studio album, King Animal. The shows will take place at Irving Plaza in New York City on November 13th, the Phoenix in Toronto on November 16th and the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on November 27th. King Animal, Soundgarden's first album since 1996, arrives on the 13th. Fans who pre-order the album before 11:59 p.m. PT on November 7th will be sent a password to access a ticket pre-sale for the shows, beginning on November 8th at noon.
Tickets will go on sale to the general public on November 9th.
The band will also webcast a Live On Letterman concert from New York on November 12th at 8:00 p.m. ET. The webcast will be available on CBS.com and VEVO.
The band will also perform later that evening on CBS-TV's Late Show With David Letterman, and on the November 26th edition of ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The band has also announced details of the various editions of King Animal that will be available, including a box set, a deluxe CD, an iTunes deluxe version and a 180-gram double vinyl version, most of which will include demos of several album tracks.
King Animal is Soundgarden's first all-new studio album since releasing Down On The Upside 16 years ago. The band reunited in 2010 and has also issued a live set and a retrospective collection in the past two years.
