Don't Drink & Drive

New Alcohol Law This Fall … Our city’s new “.05” impaired driving law will being going into effect just in time for the unofficial “final week of Summer,” the Labour Day weekend.  If you blow between .05 and .08, you’ll automatically get a license suspension and your vehicle will be seized for three days; each recurring infraction has nastier penalties.  Don’t be a fool, steer here for more: www.Transportation.Alberta.ca/impaireddriving.htm

Edmonton River Valley Trail Closures … Some of the trails in the North Saskatchewan river valley are closed this weekend and possibly for a little while longer due to high water levels.  Watch for the signs, and with rain expected all weekend, don’t tempt fate!  High, fast running water can be dangerous, so if the signs say “Closed” or “Keep Out,” then stay away, idiot.  Hike over here for the list: www.Edmonton.ca/attractions_recreation/parks_rivervalley/trailpark-cautions-closures.aspx

Dead Body Found In Edmonton … Police are treating a dead body found on the north side as a “suspicious” death.  Ha ha, I love how they categorize it … Here’s a body lying between the O’leary Fitness Centre and O’leary High School, and it’s “suspicious”?!  Thanks for stating the obvious.  Anyway, it’s only the city’s 10th homicide of 2012, and last year by this time we had about 500; maybe Edmonton is getting safer.  Read more here: http://edmonton.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/CTVNews/20120609/EDM_olearysuspiciousdeath_120609/20120609/?hub=EdmontonHome
