HAPPY CANADA DAY!

CANADA DAY at HUDSONS … Join me on location at Hudsons Canadian Taphouse downtown for Canada Day; TODAY ‘til 4pm.  They’ll be taking Canadian Tire money at par until 7:00, there’s tons of Red Beer, and Maple Bacon Mini Donuts too!  Fulfill your patriotic duties here: www.HudsonsTapHouse.com

Fffireworks

CANADA DAY FUN … Here’s what’s going on; all sorts of festivities and celebrations at the following venues: City Hall, the Valley Zoo, and Fort Edmonton Park.  There’ll be activities all day with fireworks at 11pm at Millwoods Park, and of course the the main fireworks are downtown at 11.  Some of the best viewing spots are Telus Field (concessions will be open), along Saskatchewan drive on the south side of the river, the Legislature, Victoria Park, and anywhere on River Valley road.  Go early!

Concert Crowd

BOONSTOCK … WRAPS UP TONIGHT in Gibbons, just 20 minutes out of Edmonton.  The city’s biggest annual Music & Fun festival, featuring: BILLY TALENT, BUCKCHERRY, GOB, iLL SCARLETT and more!  There’s hundreds of late night action too, with some huge names from the world of electro music.  Rock your cursor here for all you need to know: www.Boonstock.ca

Euro 2012 Soccer Championship … Today was the final day of the EURO 2012 Soccer Championship; one of the most watched sporting events in the world.  This is it ... The championship game between SPAIN and ITALY ... SPAIN seems unstoppable right now, after their easy 4-0 win over the Italians today.  Holland is still my favourite team though; all the tournament details, wrap-up, etc., can be found here: www.UEFA.com

Edmonton ESKIMOS Football … The season opener was last night with the Eskimos spoiling the return of Ricky Ray with his Toronto Argonauts.  The Esks won 19-15 in front of 36,000 fans at Commonwealth Stadium!  FINGER ELEVEN played the half-time show and a concert after the game too!  Next game is a week from today as the Eskies visit the Saskatchewan Roughriders; game time is 5:00pm.  Go Esks, and get all the team’s info here: www.Esks.com

NHL Free Agent Frenzy … Today the free agency race begins in the National Hockey League.  Pittsburgh signed Sidney Crosby to a super-ultra-mega million dollar deal a few days ago, which I think is foolish because he’s “broken.”  Where will Roberto Luongo end up?  And what about Martin Brodeur and Zach Parise of the New Jersey Devils?  Oh, right … It IS still too early to be talking about hockey, I love you Summer!

Alberta’s DUI Penalties Changed … As of today, things will be different in Alberta if you get busted for impaired driving.  The law is actually still the same; it’s the penalties that are now different.  So DON’T DRINK & DRIVE!  How many times do we have to be reminded?!  If you don’t get it by now, you probably never will.  Wanna know more?  Steer here for all the info: www.Transportation.Alberta.ca/impaireddriving.htm

FC Edmonton … Professional soccer at 2pm today with FC Edmonton hosting the Puerto Rico Islanders at Clarke Stadium.  Kick your mouse here to find out more: www.FCEdmonton.com

Edmonton PROSPECTS Baseball … Have a double-header in Lethbridge today and are in Weyburn, Saskatchewan tomorrow and Tuesday.  Swing here for more: www.ProspectsBaseballClub.com
