FINAL WEEK OF JANUARY...
...HOSTING "MID-DAYS" ALL WEEK. Today through Friday I'll be on the air from 10am 'til 3pm Mountain time, and I'll be giving you tons of chances to win cool sh*t with "Rock 101" each Lunch Hour. Text your requests to 666666, phone the "Line From Hell" at 780-451-8666, or check www.TheBearRocks.com and make your requests via our Facebook fan page.
REQUEST LUNCH TOPIC ... Super Bowl is this Sunday from New Orleans, Louisiana, featuring the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens. This is one of the biggest "pig-out" days of the year in the United States, and the big game is also a huge reason to eat crappy food here in Canada too. What do you prepare food-wise for Super Bowl Sunday ever year? Scroll down a little bit further down for a list of New Orleans Super Bowl "Fun Facts."
ROCK 101 LESSON ... Forty years ago today, one of the biggest rock bands of all-time performed their very first concert at the Coventry Club in Queens, New York. Many people said at the time that their mix of make-up & stage props was ridiculous and wouldn't be able to save them from their lack of musical talent. The band proved everybody wrong and is still going strong today; who is it? KISS, and Gene Simmons has gone on to become one of the most savvy business men in the history of Rock & Roll. At 12:50pm Mountain time today, I'll ask you about this, and if you're caller Ten with the correct answer at 780-451-8666, you'll win today's "Rock 101" prize pack!
"PLUG AND PLAY" SECURITY FLAW ... This was just released yesterday: there's apparently a security flaw with "Universal Plug n Play (UPnP)" in almost every wirless device out there, and you should probably have a look at these links to make sure you're not vulnerable: http://ca.Reuters.com/article/technologyNews/idCABRE90S06320130129 or: www.Wired.com/threatlevel/2013/01/plug-n-play-security-flaws
REWARD FOR BEING BAD ... Yesterday I mentioned a new TV show on the way in Canada featuring convicted fraudster, Conrad Black: www.TheGlobeAndMail.com/report-on-business/hes-back-conrad-black-to-host-new-weekly-television-show/article7929435. Today, there's another convicted felon (with a much more recognizable name) who'll be appearing on an upcoming episode of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." His name is Mike Tyson, and apparently there's a petition going around to drop the convicted rapist's cameo appearance from that future episode of the world's most popular crime show: www.TorontoSun.com/2013/01/29/mike-tyson-facing-protests-over-law-and-order-role. Tyson has spoken out about the petition too: www.HuffingtonPost.com/2013/01/30/mike-tyson-svu-controversy_n_2579207.html
PAUL BROWN SHOW ... Yukon Jack, Paul Brown & RyMai are off, and Gillian Foote is flying solo this week. Tomorrow, she'll have Marilyn Manson tickets to give away with "Yes Or B.S." and $50 to Schanks for the Super Bowl hosted by Ryan Maier! Listen weekdays from 5:30 to 10am Mountain time.
"WET-T" TUESDAYS AT EDEN ... Do you enjoy ridiculous, foolish adult fun? Then you should wheel over to Eden Exotic Entertainment for the world-famous "Wet-T Tuesdays." Last night and every Tuesday, we get a bunch of local ladies on stage to compete in the "I'm an Eden Rockstar" Wet-T contest for 600 bucks in cash prizes! SUPER BOWL FUN FACTS ... 1) This year's game happens to take place during Mardi Gras, so with two of America's biggest parties taking place at the same time, in the same place, it should be a little crazy; over one million people are expected in the streets of New Orleans next Sunday. 2) This will be the 10th Super Bowl held in New Orleans, tied with Miami for the most times. 3) The big game is expected to bring over 400 million dollars to the economy of the "Big Easy." 4) There will be over 6000 volunteers and 5000 media people, coincidentally there will be over 5000 pounds of hot dogs sold during the event! 5) Peopel driving to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will pay around $200 US for parking on game day. 6) Over 100 million Americans are expected to watch the game, and over one billion will watch around the world. 7) Americans will eat over 1.2 billion chicken wings on Super Bowl Sunday!
