A walk in the Park, Volume 268

DAILY WARDEN TRACK: Today’s song is from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, and I noticed this morning that today is the 15th anniversary of the release of their “Californication” album.  What’s your favourite RHCP tune?  I have a really hard time trying to choose one… “Under The Bridge,” “Suck My Kiss,” “My Friends,” “Scar Tissue,” “Wet Sand,” even their “Higher Ground” cover.  Anyway, I really think the 2006 “Stadium Arcadium” double-album was one of the Chilis’ finest moments, and that’s where this track hails from.  Use your hand-eye coordination to activate the “play” button so you can use more of your senses to experience a funky little “STORM IN A TEACUP!”

ESSENTIAL BEER DRINKING GEAR: I really like beer, and I also like cool inventions for beer.  If you plan on enjoying some suds outdoors this Summer, then first you should check out a funky new cooler here.
CITRUS + SUNSHINE = HAPPINESS: It would seem that way, but apparently that’s not the case with Florida residents, as a new study suggests they’re more stressed-out than any other U.S. state.  Wrong coast maybe, California?  Surf the deceptively sunny story here.

SMART TV SECURITY FLAW: We all love our technology & gadgets, but it looks like there’s a vulnerability in 1000′s of new “smart TVs” out there.  I know when we bring our brand new 132-inch LED TV home, we just want to plug it in and start watching the hell out of it, before checking to make sure that the security in the new TV is properly configured.  But make sure your set is secure before you fire it up, find out what I’m talking about here.
BETTER POSTURE IS HEALTHIER: I’m not exactly a picture of good health, but I do like to find as many tips as I can to at least try to stay a little bit on the healthy side.  If you’re similar in your approach to healthy living, then stretch for a few good posture tips here.
FUN, FESTIVALS, ETC.: Drumheller DinoFest (June 13 – 15), Improvaganza (June 18 – 28), The Works Art & Design Festival (June 19 – July 1), Beaumont Blues & Roots Festival (June 20 – 22), Edmonton International Jazz Fest (June 20 – 29), Tail Creek Mud & Music Festival (June 27 – 29).
NHL STANLEY CUP FINALS: The Los Angeles Kings have a 2-0 series lead after the second overtime win in-a-row over the visiting New York Rangers with last night’s 5-4 win.  Game three is tomorrow night, faceoff from Madison Square Garden is at 6:05pm Mountain time on CBC, with the Rangers absolutely needing a win to keep their hopes alive.  Keep up to date with the official NHL site here.
EDMONTON ESKIMOS: The 2014 pre-season home-opener is Friday night, with the Eskies hosting the B.C. Lions.  Kickoff from Commonwealth Stadium is 7:05pm Mountain time.
FC EDMONTON: Couldn’t get any play in a miserable 1-0 loss against the Ottawa Fury FC last weekend.  They’re back in action this afternoon with the Carolina Railhawks in town.  First kick from Clarke Stadium is at 2:05pm Mountain time.
EDMONTON PROSPECTS: Wrap their weekend series this afternoon in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.  Next home series is Tuesday & Wednesday, with the Medicine Hat Mavericks visiting the Prospects.  First pitch both nights is 7:05pm Mountain time from Telus Field.  Watch the games here, and check out the team’s hot, new cheerleading squad here.
