A walk in the Park, Volume 277

DAILY WARDEN TRACK: Today’s feature ditty is from a group that I’ve really gained a big appreciation for over the past five years or so, it’s a band who never seems to be sitting still.  In fact they are almost always on the road, or in the studio, or both – constantly.  They have tons of big fans & friends too, including Cypress Hill, with whom they played a 420 gig last year at the iconic Red Rocks venue in Colorado.  Indeed it’s SLIGHTLY STOOPID, who are launching their “Summer Sessions” tour in just a few days with G. Love & Special Sauce, Cypress, NOFX, and Stephen Marley!  This song is absolutely perfect for sippin’ sumpin’ in the sunshine on a sweet Summer day.  From the 2008 disc, “Slightly Not Stoned Enough To Eat Breakfast Yet Stoopid,” it’s all groove with no lyrics, click that “play” button and saunter on with CIRCLE HOUSE BLUES.”

Topic Of The Day: DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO ACTS WEALTHY, BUT ISN’T?  Have a look at a ridiculous article on how to “appear rich” here, then tell us about that nose-in-the-air, pseudo-millionaire on the official Park Warden facebook page, or text to 666 666.
SHARK ATTACK IN LOS ANGELES: Last week there was a shark attack at Manhattan Beach in L.A. County, the victim was not seriously hurt, but it looks like shark sightings are on the rise in the area.  Watch the waters and devour the details here.
MICROSOFT TO RELEASE SMART BAND: Tech giant Microsoft may be a little late in the “Smart Watch” market, but they’re about to release a new smart-band that’s supposed to be compatible with almost every mobile platform available.  These devices are definitely for more fitness-minded individuals than myself (way more), jog over the details here.
ADDICTION ISSUES CAN AFFECT ANYONE: If you know someone who has an addiction, then you’re probably on a constant search for answers and assistance.  I read an interesting article this morning on different ways of dealing with this touchy subject, if you’d appreciate some insight, go here.
FUN, FESTIVALS, FOOLERY: Calgary Stampede (July 4 – 13), International Street Performers Festival (July 4 – 13), Sand On Whyte (July 4 – 13), Taste Of Edmonton (July 17 – 26), K-Days (July 18 – 26).
WORLD CUP WIND DOWN: And on we go to the “Final Four,” a.k.a. the semi-finals.  Tuesday it’s BRAZIL vs. GERMANY, and Wednesday it’ll be ARGENTINA vs. NETHERLANDS.  Both  matches are 2pm Mountain time, and the Championship game is one week from today.  Stay posted with the tournament, its festivities, and the excitement through FIFA & CBC!
EDMONTON ESKIMOS: Beat Hamilton 28-24 Friday night and are now 2-0 to start the season.  They’re back in action on Friday night, hosting the Ottawa (doomed-to-fail) Red-Blacks!  Kickoff at Commonwealth Stadium is 8:05pm Mountain time.
FC EDMONTON: Resume the 2014 soccer season next Sunday with the Ottawa Fury FC in town.  Be a part of the action from Clarke Stadium at 4:05pm Mountain time.
EDMONTON PROSPECTS: Have a pair of games against the Lethbridge Bulls tonight & tomorrow at Telus Field.  First pitch both nights is at 7:05pm Mountain time, watch the games here.
