A walk in the Park, Volume 249

DAILY WARDEN TRACK: Today's feature is a complete 180 from yesterday's.  It contains music from BLONDIE and The DOORS, in a mash-up of "Rapture" and "Riders On The Storm."  Super old-school indeed, but the track sounds amazing, and it kinda makes you feel weird too, ha ha!  Anyway, you'll find this on Blondie's "Greatest Hits: Sound & Vision" album that came out in 2005 with a DVD.  Hit play in the "song bar" to the right for the smoovy-groovy "RAPTURE RIDERS."

A walk in the Park, Volume 248

DAILY WARDEN TRACK: You're getting something today from the last "real" studio album by GUNS N' ROSES... Released in 1991, "Use Your Illusion II" was the second half of an epic undertaking by Slash, Axl Rose & company.  Today's song was never released as a single, perhaps because of its lyrical content, but it's definitely one of the best tracks from the double set.  It kicks up a groove immediately, and chugs along like a beat-up freight train 'til the very end.  Click the computer-generated "play" button in the album artwork for some dirty ol' G N' F N' R with "PRETTY TIED UP."

A walk in the Park, Volume 247

DAILY WARDEN TRACK: Today's feature track will take us slightly "underground" with an artist that never really saw any "mainstream" attention, even though he's released 12 studio albums in the past 22 years.  Dude's name is Mark Oliver Everett, and his musical outfit is called EELS.  I own six or seven of his discs, and the cool thing about Eels is, every album has a distinct personality.  There are some very dark, deep, and at times, humorous moments on each album too.  My personal favourite is "Beautiful Freak," from 1996.  Not a happy album, but Everett's writing style has a way of making some very melancholy music sound almost happy.  It's moody stuff indeed, so if you like today's song, you should explore more Eels tunes, and there's a brand-spanking new album on the way this April as well.  Click "play" to the right for the groovy, ...

A walk in the Park, Volume 246

DAILY WARDEN TRACK: Today I'm sharing a song with you from a group whose members hail from three different bands: Stone Temple Pilots, Filter, and KoЯn.  They've only released one album together, but I really liked it, and the band has never ruled out another record despite the first disc's disappointing performance.  The band is ARMY Of ANYONE, featuring STP's Deleo brothers (guitar & bass), Richard Patrick from Filter (singer), and Ray Luzier of KoЯn (drums).  This is the lead track from their self-titled debut album, and I'm hoping they reconvene sometime in the future.  Click the pseudo "play button" to the right for "IT DOESN'T SEEM TO MATTER."

A walk in the Park, Volume 245

DAILY WARDEN TRACK: Here's a tune from a band I think is highly under-appreciated.  It's RISE AGAINST, who consistently pump out thought-provoking, and sometimes controversial music.  A perfect example would be their 2008 song, "Hero Of War," from the album "Appeal To Reason," which also contained "Re-Education (Through Labor)," "Long Forgotten Sons," and today's track.  It really was an amazing album, which went to #1 in Canada.  Hit "play" in the "album graphic" to the right, and check out "SAVIOR."
