A walk in the Park, Volume 254

DAILY WARDEN TRACK: Over the past several years I've really gained a huge appreciation for the music of BEN HARPER.  Two of his earliest albums blew me away when I first heard them, I think mostly because of his ability to make an album flow seamlessly while crossing genres with almost every song.  His vocals are powerful and his guitar playing is incredible, whether it's reggae, folk, blues, rock, soul or roots.  He's releasing a new album in May, a collaboration with his mom Ellen, called "Childhood Home."  BTW, those two albums I mentioned, were "The Will To Live (1997)," and "Fight For Your Mind (1995)," which contains today's song, "BURN ONE DOWN."  Click right, and use it as your "420" theme, but please celebrate responsibly.

DAILY WARDEN TRACK: I'm dropping some beats on you today from one of the biggest names in the world of electronic music, DEADMAU5.  The Toronto writer / producer / performer is currently working on a brand new studio album, which is due later this year, and according to his official website, won't be back on tour 'til August (in Europe).  The tune today is from his 2010 album "4x4=12," and was the third single released from it.  The track sounds amazing when it's cranked, so do that after you click "play" for the massive club hit "SOFI NEEDS A LADDER" (feat. Miss Sofi).

DAILY WARDEN TRACK: One of the most popular parties in Edmonton every year is the "THAW AT The SHAW," and last night's Spring bash was epic for metalheads.  AVENGED SEVENFOLD was the headliner, along with HELLYEAH, and a couple other bands.  The show was sold out, the crowd was electrified, and the mood was over-the-top!  It was a wicked way for "Bad Thursday" to lead into "Good Friday" and the Easter long weekend.  The past year has been massive for A7X, with sold out shows all over the planet, and their latest album "Hail To The King" (2013) garnering more fans.  From that album, click the make-believe "play button" to the right for "DOING TIME."

A walk in the Park, Volume 251

DAILY WARDEN TRACK: The song today is from a band that's not really a band, but more of a dude, and his "project."  In the style of Brit electro-rap like Audio Bullys or Just Jack, today's artist is The STREETS, fronted by lyricist, vocalist & multi-instrumentalist, Mike Skinner.  One thing I love about The Streets is the constant tongue-in-cheek sarcasm, and the fact that Skinner isn't really that strong of a rapper.  His humor and wit is what gives The Streets its charm though.  Most people have only heard one song from this artist, and they usually wonder "what the hell was that?"  Then a few seconds later ask more appropriately, "who the hell was that?"  That song is from the 2004 album, "A Grand Don't Come For Free," so click the play button in the album graphic for "FIT BUT YOU KNOW IT."

DAILY WARDEN TRACK: Today's cut is courtesy of a Seattle-area band that was born at the end of the "grunge era," but really has no connection to it; MODEST MOUSE.  This song reached #5 in the U.S. and solidified their status as a band who deserved some heavy recognition after five albums.  From their 2007 album, "We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank," this tune is hard to get out of your brain after a few listens.  Click the play button to the right for "DASHBOARD."
