Varsity Blues was significant not as the first on-screen teaming of James Van Der Beek and Jon Voight, but as Van Der Beek's film debut. The teen football saga was pitched straight at the teen and jock audience, and accordingly, the accompanying soundtrack consists primarily of hard rock designed to rile up either sports fans or crazed adolescents. And it doesn't play favorites, either, choosing to run the gamut from Van Halen's classic "Hot for Teacher" to the Foo Fighters' anti-anthem "My Hero," which was all over the trailers. Read More
